Un momento intenso e crudo di una cerimonia funebre balinese. A Bali, la morte non è nascosta né temuta, ma vissuta come parte naturale della vita: un passaggio verso un altro stato di esistenza. Si piange il volo dello spirito il giorno prima, e si celebra la trasformazione quello seguente. La forza del rito sta proprio nel suo realismo e nel suo pragmatismo, che scuotono chi osserva e invitano a riflettere sul ciclo eterno di nascita, morte e rinascita.
The Flight of the Spirit
An intense and raw moment from a Balinese funeral ceremony. In Bali, death is neither hidden nor feared, but embraced as a natural part of life — a transition to another state of being. Grief is expressed the day before, for the spirit's departure; the following day, transformation is celebrated. The power of the ritual lies in its realism and pragmatism, shaking the viewer and inviting reflection on the eternal cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
